Highest powered transceivers available on the market. Easily run more than the 50' maximum cable recommended for MIDI.
All boxes can either be powered by traditional DC power supply (2 x 9V Center Negative 850 mA included) or you can rely on the rechargeable eco-conscious LiPoly batteries! I hate both buying and discarding 9V batteries. Current ROVER battery life is greater than 24 hours continuous run time!
Bidirectional MIDI allows for comunication between a pedalboard and a processor. This would allow for the use of tuner features on the RJM Mastermind when paired with an Axe-Fx for instance.
Unlike some other systems that require the receiver to be a 'base station'. I needed a system that could be flexible. Both Transmitter and Receiver can run on battery power allowing either unit to be out on stage.
More than one transceiver can be added to the network if a playback system were to control several pedalboards or keyboards like a wireless Y cable.
Two years ago I found myself on tour and in need of a better wireless MIDI solution. I started designing this system after being disappointed with what was already on the market. Touring as a guitar tech with Metallica requires that every piece of gear I use must be extremely reliable and usable on the largest stages. My belief is that any piece of gear I try should "just work" or I'm not interested.
My MIDI_ROVER system utilizes a MESH networking protocol. Line of sight is always best with any wireless device but this is not always possible when amp racks are off stage and set pieces crowd the space. A NODE can be placed in-between any transmitter and receiver. This not only strengthens the network but allows us to "bend" a signal around any object such as large video screens and other wireless reflecting aluminum or steel structures to a hiding receiver.
2.4 gHz frequency range offers worldwide license-free usage. Units are programmed to lie between and above WiFi channels with your own unique network ID. ROVER's do not function on WiFi protocols.
Please contact me to be sure I am providing you with a proper solution.
